Google launches +1 Button for third party websites.
Google initially launched its +1 Button for its search engine in March, which allowed its users to recommend websites and interesting stuff to their friends and contacts on google. Now Google is also extending this service to third party websites. ”sometimes you want to +1 a page while you’re on it. After all, how do you know you want to suggest that recipe for chocolate flan if you haven’t tried it out yet?” wrote Evan Gilbert on googleblog.

Now with this new announcement, web masters would be able to add google’s +1 button on their websites. When any user finds something interesting on the website, he/she can click on the +1 button to recommend it to their friends. The recommendations would then appear in their friend’s search results. Please see the official promo video below.
It is worth mentioning that there is a buttons war going on between the big giants Google, Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUp, Digg, Yahoo and LinkedIn. The two most prominent among all are Facebook and Twitter but one thing is for sure everyone wants to cash in on this. Yesterday Twitter also announced its new Follow button in addition to its previous button. So the war is definitely on.
Speaking at AllThingsD conference Eric Schmidt recognized that google initially missed out on the social networking boom and failed to react effectively to facebook and its social network rise. He also said that google need to work with facebook to integrate their social data into their search. Mind you that Microsoft is already doing that with facebook. The love between Google and Facebook is not hidden from anyone, last month news came to light that facebook had hired a well know PR firm to plant anti-Google stories in the media. So now google is trying to catach up and would keep launching such efforts to make full use of the social networking boom.
